4 WEEK Intermediate Wheel Throwing | March 2025

Take your wheel throwing skills to the next level with our intermediate pottery class. This condensed course is designed for individuals who have already completed a beginner's pottery class or have some prior experience with wheel throwing. If you're looking to refine your techniques, explore advanced forms, and enhance your creativity, this is the perfect opportunity to elevate your pottery skills.

Building upon your existing knowledge, you'll explore more complex techniques and challenging projects with guidance from the instructor. 

Our well-equipped studio provides a conducive environment for intermediate-level learning. Each participant will have access to their own pottery wheel and the necessary tools and materials are included. The class size is intentionally kept small to ensure personalized attention and ample time for individual guidance from the instructors..

Course Breakdown: 

Week 1: Keep Nothing!  A concentrated focus on perfecting throwing cylinders. Throwing taller, even cylinders with more challenging weights of clay. We will be cutting our pieces in half to inspect clay distribution and areas of improvement.  Practice and repetition will be key for our first week. Trying out more challenging forms for practice, larger bowls, vases, etc. 

Week 2: Keep our best pieces!  A continuation of practice and repetition, students will be encouraged to try more complicated forms with a focus on larger bowls, two part pieces,  tea pots, etc

Week 3: Trimming, handles, and surface design. If time allows, more practice throwing - pieces will be cut in half. 

Week 4:  Glazing!
