Beginners & all levels welcome!
An opportunity to make some hand made gifts!
In this short and sweet workshop, participants will have the opportunity to learn and practice various hand-building techniques to create unique ceramic pieces. Your items will be ready for pickup before the holidays!
The workshop begins with an introduction to different types of clay and the fundamentals of hand-building techniques. You'll learn how to prepare the clay, understand its properties, and explore techniques such as pinching, coiling, and slab construction.
As you gain confidence in the basics, you'll have the freedom to let your creativity run wild. The instructor will provide guidance and inspiration as you design and build your own ceramic pieces. Whether you envision making functional pottery like bowls or plates, or you prefer to focus on sculptural forms, the possibilities are endless.
Throughout the workshop, you'll receive personalized attention and instruction to help you refine your techniques and troubleshoot any challenges you encounter. You'll learn how to add texture, create surface decorations, and on the sixth week, you will glaze your pieces to finish!
Students are encouraged to make between 2-4 finished pieces. Should more be made and wished to be kept, additional firing costs may be discussed!
